Ave Maria University is seeking applications for the position of
Director of Student Development and Engagement; Title IX Coordinator

This is a regular full time exempt staff position that reports to the Vice President of Student Affairs.

The primary purpose of the position is to be responsible for new student transition, integration and engagement; wellness promotion and education, and to serve as Title IX Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

New Student Transition and Leadership Development:

Oversee all programming for new and transfer undergraduate student orientation; work collaboratively with academic affairs, student affairs; emphasize academic success, student development and engagement.
·       Oversee freshman transition programming and new student engagement.

·       Coordinate efforts for freshman integration through promoting freshman year experience topics and learning

·       Oversee graduate assistants -hiring, training, ongoing supervision, and evaluation

·       Support graduate assistants with oversight of student leaders in mentorship program

·       Assist in leadership training and leadership programming

·       Oversee the collection of data on retention, integration, and survey information as it relates to the student experience

Student Wellness and Personal Development:

·       Initiate and oversee wellness programming and education, including fitness initiatives and wellness topics such as health, nutrition, stress, sleep, balance

·       Educate students on hot topics regarding mission and identity, mental health, virtue and character (i.e. addiction, pornography, technology, theology of the body)

·       Develop data driven retention strategies of student engagement, involvement and mission integration

·       Promote emotional and mental wellbeing; coordinate with counseling staff

·       Oversee intramurals

Title IX Coordinator:  Coordinates and facilitates the institution’s compliance to Title IX of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

·       Develops, implements, coordinates and conducts educational programs and initiatives designed to educate and support faculty, staff, and students regarding their rights and, where applicable, obligations under Title IX, including reporting options/responsibilities, support services, University policy and applicable disciplinary code, grievance procedures, confidential resources, etc.

·       Oversees, coordinates and ensures investigations of reports and complaints of sexual misconduct are adequate, reliable, timely, confidential and impartial.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, with at least three years of experience in a supervisory and leadership role.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES QUALIFICATIONS:

The preferred candidate should have a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Affairs, Counseling, or related field, with 1-3 years of experience with advising student organizations, program planning, and assessment and evaluation. Previous experience working in a college or university setting with undergraduate and graduate students is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable of student and leadership development and engagement practices. This person will also have excellent customer service skills, particularly working with students and vendors, and assessment.

Demonstrated ability to manage complex and sensitive situations objectively and with the utmost confidentiality and tact. Demonstrated interviewing, organizational, analytical, and judgment skills.

Ability to manage a number of different tasks concurrently.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to build networks.

Excellent organizational skills.
