Visiting Professor of Physics for Spring 2021

The Department of Chemistry and Physics at Ave Maria University invites applications for a Visiting Professor of Physics for the Spring of 2021 with the possibility for permanent hire.

The Department of Chemistry and Physics offers undergraduate degrees in biochemistry, chemistry, and physics. Candidates with the capacity to teach undergraduate physics courses is mandatory (including mechanics, materials, electricity & magnetism, etc.). Post-graduate experience teaching physics is desired for the role, and familiarity with experiential teaching through laboratories is expected. A doctorate in physics, engineering or applied math or related discipline is required.

Applicants should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, unofficial copies of undergraduate and graduate school transcripts, and a statement relating the University’s Catholic mission as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae to their philosophy of teaching.  Candidates should arrange for three letters of recommendation to be submitted in support of their application upon request.

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Associate Athletic Director

Ave Maria University is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as one of the University’s two Associate Athletic Directors. The Associate Athletic Director, in conjunction with the Director of Athletics, is responsible for the oversight of the varsity and junior varsity programs at the University. The Associate Athletic Director will also participate in the hiring, evaluating and supervision of personnel. He/she will be responsible for managing and promoting athletic events and coordinating athletic facilities. The Associate Athletic Director will oversee the Sports Information Department, which includes all athletics communication (athletics website, marketing, social media accounts, etc.). The Associate Athletic Director will engage in strategic planning and project management. Ave Maria University is a private Catholic university, and the Associate Athletic Director will be a part of the efforts to integrate the Catholic faith into the fabric of the Athletic Department.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Participate in the hiring, evaluating and supervision of personnel.
Manage and promote athletic events and coordinate athletic facilities.
Serve as the immediate supervisor for the head coaches and assistant coaches employed by the athletic programs and to meet with the sports’ coaches on a regular basis in order to actively monitor the coaches’ specific athletic programs in their:
Teaching, training, and skill development of their student athletes in the sport
Virtue formation and faith integration of their student athletes
Recruiting efforts
Scholarship awarding
Student-athlete academic success
Student-athlete retention
Budget management
Manage and oversee the Sports Information Department, including:
The official athletic department website
Sports marketing
Social media accounts
Cooperate closely with the University’s marketing and communications office to ensure consistent and complementary strategic plans with the University’s overall outreach and communication.
Engage in strategic planning and project management.
Integrate the Catholic faith into the fabric of the Athletic Department.
