Overview

Belmont Abbey College seeks an Area Coordinator.  The Area Coordinator (AC) for Residence Life provides a safe and healthy environment within the residence halls that is conducive to learning and community development.  The AC position is live-in. Each Area Coordinator is given a specific set of students to work with, all while working collaboratively with the Residence Life staff to ensure a positive community campus-wide. The AC, under the direction of the Director of Residence Life, builds a professional team among the Resident Assistant staff through supervising their management of each residential area. The AC is responsible for the RA on-call schedule and manages the Residence Life programming model while advancing the Benedictine Hallmarks, Catholic identity, and mission of Belmont Abbey College.

The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree; a Master’s degree is preferred. Experience in residence life is recommended, with preference given to those who have experience managing residential communities.  This is a 12 month, live-in position.  The work environment is an office, residence hall, and campus setting, which require the ability to work 40 hours per week in the main office followed by management availability of halls and office after business hours.  On-call nights and weekends are shared among the professional staff of Residence Life.  While on-call, acts as a resource for the on-duty RA staff and Campus Police.   The position requires the ability to make walking rounds of campus and the residence halls.  An unfurnished on-campus apartment is provided with an on-campus meal plan.

The incumbent will consistently demonstrate skills, attitudes, and stable disposition of character to support our Catholic and Benedictine identity while fostering the development of mind, body, and spirit in our students, our staff and the greater community. Finally, candidates must have a sincere appreciation and acceptance of our Catholic approach to education and an understanding of Pope Saint John Paul II’s Ex Corde Ecclesiae.
