Overview
Belmont Abbey College invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor of Philosophy position to begin August 1, 2024. AOS: open, AOC: Ethics is preferred. Review of applications will begin October 20th.
Responsibilities
The standard undergraduate teaching load is 4/4. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out scholarly research and to perform service to the department and to the college.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Philosophy required. Belmont Abbey College provides Philosophy courses for a Roman Catholic minor seminary, and candidates for the position must support the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and the seminary’s mission to prepare men for the priesthood.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastically committed to the Catholic mission of Belmont Abbey College. Preference will be given to those candidates who can demonstrate (1) a record of excellence in undergraduate teaching and a sense of teaching as a vocation; (2) support to the approach to education expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae; and (3) a strong desire to teach at a liberal arts institution where the academic program is guided by the Catholic intellectual tradition and the Benedictine spirit of prayer and learning.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
