Belmont Abbey College invites applications for a full-time visiting or possibly tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics, to begin August 1, 2024.

The candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of college-level mathematics courses including core classes and upper-level courses. This includes but is not limited to; Math for Liberal Arts, College Algebra, Calculus, Statistics, Statistics for Business and Economics, Linear Algebra, and Discrete Mathematics. The ability to teach physical sciences and to interact with, contribute to, develop, and teach interdisciplinary programs (like physics, data science, actuarial science, and similar) is positively regarded, but not required. Service to the department, College, and community; scholarly development; and contributing positively to the College’s mission are expected.

An earned doctorate in mathematics or a closely related field and demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching are required. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

The successful candidate will be a talented and dedicated academic deeply and enthusiastically committed to the Catholic mission of Belmont Abbey College. Preference will be given to those candidates who can demonstrate 1) a record of excellence in undergraduate teaching and a sense of teaching as a vocation; 2) a philosophy of teaching that supports the approach to education expressed in St. John Paul II’s Ex Corde Ecclesiae; and 3) a strong desire to teach at a liberal arts institution where the academic program is “guided by the Catholic intellectual tradition and the Benedictine spirit of prayer and learning.”
