The Assistant to the Athletic Director supports the Director of Athletics through project management, organization, completing proposals, working with budgets, fundraising and ensuring the smooth operation of the Athletic Department. This position is essential in the overall management of the department through assisting the director and assistant directors in accomplishing the stated goals of the department.



·         Fundraising. Working with the Development Office in order to procure the necessary mailing lists, current information, materials needed to promote the Department of Athletics as well as be an integral person in implementing an Athletics Annual Fund program. Setting appointments, providing information to benefactors that helps promote their connection with the director and the University.

·         Overseeing communication, building relationships, preparing materials and aiding in the recruitment of athletes in coordination with the Admissions Department. Execute athletic recruitment days focusing on the recruitment of female athletes. Working with the SWA and coaching staff in order to promote the recruitment of student-athletes in all sports.

·         Project Management. Compiling data, budgets, calendars and related information for the necessary completion of projects such as foundation proposals and events such as the Baron Athletic banquet, annual Department retreat, and Presidential Golf Outing. One of the major projects of this role is Athletic Camps and coordination with the Department of Outreach and Evangelization.

·         Communicating with other departments and individuals within the University as directed by the director.

·         Tracking goals and tasks of the department to ensure the director is kept current on the progress toward the accomplishment of goals.

Work Experience

·         Familiarity with athletics and athletic operations. This could be achieved as a student-athlete, graduate assistant, coach, student working in sports information, etc.

·         This is an entry-level position and open to various types of experience related to athletics.



·         Maintains a clear focus on the intended outcomes of a given goal, project or assignment.

·         Is tenacious at pursuing a goal and bringing it to a successful close.

·         Effectively uses both formal and informal means of communications and influence.

·         Asks questions to clarify expectations; keeps supervisor informed of progress to avoid problems.

·         Effectively identifies and organizes the key points needed for an effective written communication.



·         BS/BA in any field


Technical Skills

·         Proficient in all Microsoft Office Products

·         Understands Jenzabar

·         Understands Salesforce


Workplace Factors:

·         Some evening-weekend hours required.
