Position Available:  Financial Aid, COVID Relief Assistant (Temporary)

Position Reports to:  Director of Financial Aid

Department:  Financial Aid / Enrollment Services

FLSA Status:  Non-exempt

Schedule:  Full-time, Temporary, Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; This role is not envisioned as a remote position. (Temporary through May 1, 2022, or sooner.)

The COVID Relief Assistant will help the Financial Aid and Business Offices with the COVID-19 Relief grant, promote the grant to students and communicate with students about the grant. This role will also provide support related to federal reporting deadlines.




1.     Communicate with students about the COVID-19 Relief grant. Answer questions from students and promote the grant.

2.     Maintain a spreadsheet of applicants with awarded amounts, balancing against the financial aid software and business office software.  Add other data needed for auditing purposes related to federal guidelines for the grant.

Work Experience

·         Working with people, talking on the phone, responding to email, and cold calling.

·         Experienced in MS Excel: importing and merging spreadsheets and performing calculations.

·         Accounting or banking experience is helpful.


·         Customer Service Focus: Solicits and uses customer information to improve service or the customer’s experience.

·         Planning: Breaks projects down into key process steps and further into specific tasks.

·         Quality of Work: Consistently checks work for accuracy and completeness.


·         BS or BA in Accounting or a related field is preferred.







Technical Skills

·         MS Excel.

·         Data Entry.

·         Jenzabar experience is helpful.

Workplace Factors

·         Sitting for extended periods of time.

·         Typing and looking at a computer screen for extended periods of time.

·         Talking on the phone.
