POSITION SUMMARY

Franciscan University of Steubenville is looking for a Programmer Analyst to be responsible for providing applications support for our Salesforce/JRM and related systems as well as some database and report writing.  This position requires knowledge of several functional departments within a college or university setting and a clear understanding of how to apply technologies to improve workflow and office function efficiency.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.     Consults with customers to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements.

2.     Analyzes, defines, and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs.

3.     Writes and maintains technical specifications.

4.     Develops and maintains plans outlining steps and timetables for developing programs.

5.     Researches and evaluates software and hardware to assist in programming or to use as program platforms.

6.     Customizes and codes screen layouts, graphical user interfaces, printed outputs, and interfaces with other systems.

7.     Converts designs and specifications into computer code.  Compiles code into programs and corrects errors detected in compile process.

8.     Creates test transactions and runs tests to find errors and confirm programs meet specifications.

9.     Analyzes code to find causes of errors and revises programs.  Consults with customer to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs.

10.  Writes and maintains documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections.

11.  Writes documentation or reviews documentation written by others that describes installation and operating procedures.

12.  Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries from others regarding errors, problems, or questions about programs.

13.  Trains end users or technical support staff to use programs.

14.  Installs and tests programs.

15.  Monitors performance of programs after implementation.

REQUIREMENTS

Must understand, support and embrace the mission of Franciscan University of Steubenville and possess the following:

 

Work Experience

·         3+ years of experience as an application programmer and/or programmer analyst with SQL or related database experience.

·         3+ years of report writing experience (InfoMaker or Crystal Reports a plus).

·         Experience with Salesforce in a higher education environment.

Education

·         Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field and at least five years of related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Technical Skills

·         Extensive experience with Salesforce and Microsoft SQL Server.

·         Some experience with Jenzabar J1.

·         Experience with report writing tools, InfoMaker and Crystal Reports a plus.

 

Workplace Factors

·         Occasional night and weekend work required.

·         Occasional travel required.
