Schedule:  Full-Time – Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

The primary focus of the position of Staff Accountant will be to execute mid-level general account reconciliations, reporting and data verification. Will identify and suggest improvements in processes. Responsible for various financial functions as outlined in the primary responsibilities below. Position is involved in all accounting functions including general ledger activities, month end close, reconciliations and AP and AR processes.



·         Responsible for all tracking and monitoring of fixed assets including maintenance of depreciation and insurance allocations. Included is all construction in process activity. Responsible for all year end reporting.

·         Monitoring and assisting with payroll activity including the processing of bi-monthly student payrolls. Includes managing state payroll withholding and reporting.

·         Assist with annual financial audit processes, including preparation of audit schedules.

·         Assist and process (as assigned) with Federal and State reporting/Compliance matters.

·         Monitor and track all lease activities.

·         Serve as liaison for Admin Accounting to Conference Office and Athletic Department.

Work Experience

·         2-3 years experience in Higher Education Accounting or 3-5 years experience in general accounting.

·         Preference to have experience in audit accounting.


·         Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills.

·         Action oriented, quality decision making, customer service focused, technical skills, ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.

·         Ability to maintain confidentiality.

·         Knowledge of GAAP and ability to keep current on compliance and regulatory guidelines.



·         B.S. Degree in Accounting with a preference to active pursuit of CPA license.


Technical Skills

·         High level of computer knowledge with spreadsheet and database skills.


Workplace Factors:

·         Must be able to work from a desk.

·         Possible travel for offsite meetings or multi-day conferences.

·         May be required to lift up to 25 lbs.
