Overview

We are seeking a K-5th teacher’s aide for the general education (GE) classrooms and the Resource Department. The ideal candidate would help the school to:
(1) increase the efficiency of existing students with special needs
(2) take on new students special needs students
(3) assist current special needs students to become more integrated and connected with their general education teachers.
This new hire will report to the Resource Director and have the following quality experience and responsibilities:
*Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
*Experience working with young students K-5th.
*Teaching experience; understands classroom dynamics.
*Previously worked with students with mild learning disabilities (i.e., struggling to assimilate new skills) and behavior problems (i.e., ADHD, non-attentiveness).
*Have an understanding of teacher lesson plans.
*Familiar with best practices and positive behavior strategies.
*Understands small school climate vs. large school climate.
*Understand strengths and weaknesses of each teacher.
*Understanding of the individual needs of students and how it applies to the function of the entire classroom.
*It would be advantageous if the new hire had additional responsibilities such as:
Take notes on day-to-day issues of resource support students and students who may benefit from support (student data tracking and accommodations).
Help the GE teachers manage the classroom; alleviate problem areas.
Aide to the GE classroom Teacher(s) -Relieve the pressure and burden to accommodate the various needs of all students in the classroom.
Teacher’s aide experience, need to interface with teachers, students and lesson plans
Proctoring students who qualify for extended testing time.
Help to improve the dynamic between student-teacher.
Small group tutoring
Assist in teacher communication with students who require test/assignment modifications on a daily/weekly basis.
Candidates must be loyal, practicing Catholics who are motivated, organized, and possess a deep love for God, others and a passion for communicating that love. A genuine affection and love and talent for teaching rounds out the ideal candidate. Undergraduate degree required, Masters preferred. We are a traditional, classical Academy.
