Business Ethics & Catholic Social Thought – Graduate Faculty
The University of Mary invites applications for a Graduate Faculty position in Business Ethics & Catholic Social Thought within the Gary Tharaldson School of Business. Candidates with demonstrated ability to teach and research in Business or Leadership while engaging the broader Catholic intellectual tradition are desired. Applicants should excel in teaching (both in-person and online), be committed to supporting student formation outside of the classroom, and have an active research agenda. This position shares the academic responsibilities and privileges of a full-time faculty, including oversight of dissertations and capstones, and curricular development. This is an on-site position at the University of Mary, Bismarck campus.
The successful candidate is expected to understand, support, and advance the Christian, Catholic, and Benedictine mission and identity of the University of Mary (see https://www.umary.edu/about/mission-identity).
Qualifications and Requirements Include:
• Demonstrated ability to teach and research in Business or Leadership while engaging the broader Catholic intellectual tradition – especially in the areas of Business Ethics and Catholic Social Thought
• Earned terminal degree in Business, Leadership, Philosophy or Theology
• An MBA or comparable education or experience in business for candidates whose terminal degree is in a field other than Business or Leadership
• An M.A. in Philosophy or Theology or comparable education or experience for candidates whose terminal degree is in Business or Leadership
• Evidence of the development of a scholarly research agenda
• Demonstrated aptitude for online pedagogy
• Upholds and supports the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary
• Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities
• Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the Gary Tharaldson School of Business and throughout the university, in accord with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ

Major Gifts Officer
The Major Gifts Officer secures funds for the organization by managing a group of assigned, qualified donors (caseload), ensuring as many as possible are retained as continuing donors to the organization and are upgraded in their giving and involvement. This role requires the ability to travel both locally and nationally on a regular basis and the ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as expected.
Candidates will be invited to demonstrate a willingness to support the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities Include:
• Qualify and maintain a caseload of 100-150 Major Gift donors
• Create individual goals and cultivation plans for each donor in the caseload based on capacity and affinity to the University. In a timely and methodical manner, the MGO will execute these plans
• Work with constituent groups within the University the MGO will gather case information and create compelling "Case for support" documents
• Coordinate cultivation and solicitation visits with donor/University staff as needed
• Serve as a resource to other Mission Advancement Staff in the identification and cultivation of supporters
• Prepares and submits a monthly dashboard report to the Asst. VP of Mission Advancement
• Performs other related duties as requested and assigned
Desired Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience include:
• Upholds and supports the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary
• Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities.
• Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the Office of Mission Advancement and throughout the university, in accord with Saint Benedict's admonition that all be received as Christ.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
• Bachelor's degree required
• Master's degree preferred
• Required qualifications include a minimum of 5 years of experience successfully cultivating and soliciting six and seven figure gifts for both restricted and unrestricted campaigns and previous experience balancing annual needs with ambitious capital campaign goals and donor priorities.
• Preferred qualifications include 10 years of experience successfully cultivating and soliciting six and seven figure gifts, a CFRE credential or other advanced credentials, and/or experience creating planned giving programs.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, analytical, problem solving, and time management skills.
• Understanding of direct marketing principles and relational donor bases
• Working knowledge of planned giving methods
• Thorough understanding of the Donor Bill of Rights
