Assistant Professor – Sports Psychology or Industrial
The University of St. Thomas (UST), a private Catholic University committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, located in Houston, Texas, near the vibrant central business district, Texas Medical Center, and museum district, is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of Sports Psychology or Industrial/Organizational Psychology. This position is within the Psychology Department.
Summary and Description: This will be a full-time, non-tenure track position at the level of Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology beginning fall 2021, pending a new graduate program approval by the university’s regional accreditor and Board of Directors. Qualified applicants will have a Ph.D. in Psychology by time of appointment and demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and research. Candidates must have a background in sports, human performance, health, or clinical or counseling with an emphasis in sports and/or performance. Preference will be given to candidates with CMPC certification. Interest in active and collaborative learning, the instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching is an advantage. Candidates with demonstrated record of teaching excellence and student engagement be given priority. This position will teach required courses, as determined by the Department Chair, as well as have the freedom to propose new courses that fit their expertise and interests. The successful candidate will provide service work such as academic advising in support of the department as well as provide support for the new master’s program
