Lead Shift Supervisor – Dining Services

The purpose of this position for the supervision, training, and management of the food service operation. Ensure the appropriate food is prepared and served.

Essential duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain work schedules and production records.
Maintains food production that ensures the safety and quality of food according to policies, procedures, and department requirements.
Ensure that food items are stored in a safe, organized, and hazard-free environment.
Maintain all serving schedules; ensure that all food items are served per menu specifications in a safe appropriate manner according to departmental policies and procedures.
Maintain a sanitary department following health and safety codes and regulations.
Maintain accurate inventory on a monthly basis according to departmental policies and procedures.
Prepare orders as needed per vendor to ensure accurate production for location
Supervise and evaluate employees; counsel, promote employee growth, efficiency, morale, and teamwork.
Maintain a safe and hazard-free working environment.
Train/mentor other food service workers.
Maintain food safety logs on equipment within food service department.
Proficiency in multi-tasking
Perform other duties as requested by the Director of Food services whenever his/her skill and /or experience would be necessary to initiate, coordinate, or complete any given program.
Maintain knowledge of daily caterings and see they are prepared and delivered on time.
Be able to work occasional night and weekend catered events.
Attend food service meetings with staff.
Maintain communication with staff (including the central office staff, e-mail, phone calls, interoffice mail, etc.)
Prepare cashier duties and cash out cashier registers.
Record daily safe counts and register audits.
Promote good public relations.
Other duties as assigned.

A High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
Must have 2+ years of experience supervising staff and managing restaurant or cafeteria functions.
Must be Serve Safe certified
Must be able interact with students, faculty and staff in a University environment while providing the best the customer service possible.
Must have the ability to multi tasks, such as working at registers, setting up and breaking down catering events and at the same time still managing the overall operation.
Must have computer skills, data entry and utillization of online ordering processes.
Ability to resolve interpersonal situations
Strong organizational skills
Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs.
Work environment may involve standing for extended periods of time.
Working evening or weekends may be required based on events and other University requirements.
