The University of St. Thomas (UST), a private Catholic University committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, located in Houston, Texas, near the vibrant central business district, Texas Medical Center, and museum district, is seeking applicants for a full-time Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions.

Position Summary:

The Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admission is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of all aspects of the undergraduate freshman, transfer, and international enrollment processes at University of St. Thomas. The Assistant Director effectively leverages technology to support all recruitment activities. The Assistant Director is responsible for managing a recruitment territory including implementing a comprehensive recruitment plan for prospective students, families, counselors and other constituents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assistant Director will provide leadership, supervision, teambuilding, training and development for members of undergraduate recruitment team and offer oversight for ensuring enrollment goals are achieved in support of the universities overall recruitment and enrollment goals.
Assist in development, implementation, execution and evaluation of recruitment initiatives targeting specific geographical markets both on campus and off campus for undergraduate first-year, transfer, and international students in order to meet enrollment goals.
Support the efforts of Enrollment Management leadership in the development, evaluation, maintenance and implementation of the undergraduate Strategic Enrollment Management Plan.
Evaluate and execute admission decisions on undergraduate applicant files.
Conduct interviews with prospective students and parents, providing accurate information regarding the institution’s current admission standards, academic and related programs, student life, cost, and financial aid.
Serve on University committees/councils and as liaison to designated departments/offices/programs.
Competent functional user of all database systems related to the Office of Admission. This includes systems such as CRMs and additional software used in the recruitment of qualified prospective students.
Develop and monitor statistical reports to enhance recruitment strategies, yield management, forecasting, and operational efficiency.
Work closely with Enrollment Management and Student Engagement leadership to stay abreast of changes in the enrollment and admission industry.
Travel on behalf of the University for recruiting purposes and other college related events.
Additional duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in an admissions counselor, recruiter, or other admissions-related position preferably in a higher education setting is required.
Experience in the implementation and evaluation of university recruitment and operational processes.
Experience in the supervision of young professionals and a demonstrated ability to mentor and coach for results.
Strong and effective communication (verbal and written) skills, vibrant personality, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills are essential.
Willingness to acquire an understanding of the St. Thomas commitment to students and mission.
Ability to work in a fast paced, goal driven and measured performance environment.
Demonstrated abilities to organize effectively and multi-task.
A valid driver’s license and must be able to work extended hours or weekends during peak times and for special programs, project and events.
EDUCATION: Undergraduate degree from an accredited four-year college/university required. Master’s degree preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to carry and transport 40 pounds of materials and/or equipment. Must be able and willing to travel extended distances if needed, by airplane and by automobile. The physical demands of the above duties described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
