Lab Manager

The University of St. Thomas (UST), a private Catholic university committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, invites applications from outstanding candidates for a full-time, lab manager position in physics and engineering. The start date for the position is November 1, 2024.

General responsibilities:

Manage all department student workers and teaching assistants including hiring, training, and day-to-day planning.
Set-up and ordering for all the teaching and research laboratories.
Coordinate all ordering and secure supplies for the department, including large and small lab equipment, consumables, gas cylinders, and research supplies.
Keep labs organized, clean, and supplied with necessary equipment and expendable items as needed on a weekly basis.
Maintain yearly chemical, equipment, consumable, and glassware inventory.
Interact with and form working relationships with department faculty, university staff, and product representatives.
Work nights and weekends when necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in physics, engineering, or related field.
At least two years of experience working in a laboratory setting.
Ability to work well with faculty, staff, and students.
Ability to critically analyze and problem solve.
Manage all physics and engineering labs in the department.
Familiarity with safety documentation and capable of fixing small technical/engineering issues with laboratory instrumentation.
