Weekend Librarian

The weekend library staff are responsible for managing all aspects of the Beran Library during their scheduled work shift. This involves addressing circulation and reference requests, handling technical issues and maintaining study areas and book stacks.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Responsible for the timely and proper closing and opening of the library
Performs circulation desk procedures, such as checking in and checking out
materials, registering patrons and collecting fines
Handles circulation problems to include tracking down lost and missing material
Provides reference question assistance and assists with interlibrary loan requests
Recommends, explains, and enforces library policies and procedures
Ensures accuracy of patron door count and accurately record reference statistics
Oversees the neatness and furniture arrangements in the library
Other responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge and skills:

Master’s degree in library science from an ALA accredited degree program
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Must be reliable and punctual
Computer literacy
Disposition to work cooperatively with the staff of other library departments
Familiarity working in a Catholic/ religious environment preferred
Working conditions:

Hourly part-time, non-benefits position. Must be able to work flexible hours since the
scheduled hours may fluctuate. This is a weekend position. Must be able to work either
Saturday or Sunday. Some bending, lifting, stooping required in an office environment.
