Wyoming Catholic College seeks to hire a full time Latin professor (see https://wyomingcatholic.edu/academic-catalog/ for a description).

The applicant must have already completed an M.A. or Ph.D with coursework in Latin, be a confident Latin speaker, and have experience successfully teaching students using active pedagogy. An ideal candidate will have broad intellectual interests and be able to teach within an integrated curriculum. An especially desirable candidate would be able to teach other courses at the college outside of Latin, expanding into disciplines such as math, humanities, theology, or philosophy. The applicant should read the vision and mission of Wyoming Catholic College as articulated in the Philosophical Vision Statement and the Catalog (https://wyomingcatholic.edu/academics/philosophical-vision/philosophical-vision-statement/) and write a one page response in Latin, discussing how the candidate would be a good fit for the college and further its  goals as a Latin professor. The response is also intended to demonstrate a candidate’s level of proficiency in Latin. If candidates make it to the interview stage, they should anticipate the interview being conducted in Latin.

Faculty are typically required to teach a course load of 12 hours per week, to direct one or more theses, and to assist in some administrative duties. At times regular course load may be adjusted in exchange for organizing additional Latin activities. Faculty at WCC are committed to teaching and serving students as their first and foremost responsibility. Rank and salary are commensurate with degrees earned and teaching experience; salary and benefits are competitive.

Wyoming Catholic College welcomes applications for this position regardless of the applicant’s race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or disability.

A response to the Philosophical Vision Statement, curriculum vitae, and three letters of academic reference should be sent to the Academic Dean, Kyle Washut, Wyoming Catholic College, 306 Main St., Lander, WY 82520, or by email to kyle.washut@wyomingcatholic.edu .
