Overview
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Ave Maria University seeks a mission-aligned and detail-oriented professional to serve as its Title IX Coordinator. This position ensures institutional compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and related federal and state laws. Rooted in the Catholic mission of the University, the Title IX Coordinator will promote a campus culture of dignity, respect, and justice while overseeing efforts to prevent and respond to sexual misconduct and discrimination.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Responsibilities:
· Serve as the University’s primary point of contact and compliance officer for all Title IX-related matters.
· Oversee the intake, investigation coordination, and resolution of reports involving sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, and gender-based discrimination involving students, staff, and faculty.
· Maintain policies and procedures aligned with current Title IX regulations and Catholic moral teaching.
· Lead compliance efforts related to Title IX, VAWA, the Stop Campus Hazing Act and relevant components of the Clery Act.
· Organize and deliver regular training and awareness programming to students, faculty, and staff.
· Collaborate closely with University partners, including Campus Security, Student Affairs, Residence Life, Human Resources, and Legal Counsel.
· Maintain secure, accurate records of reports, complaints, and resolutions in accordance with University policy and federal law.
· Serve as an institutional resource on Title IX issues, fostering a campus environment that upholds human dignity and the principles of Catholic social teaching.
Work Schedule and Compensation:
This is a part-time position requiring approximately 15-25 hours per week.
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
EDUCATION:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Experience with Title IX, VAWA, Clery Act, and relevant legal/regulatory standards.
EXPERIENCE: Five years experience in Title IX compliance, investigation, health care, mental health, or higher education administration.
CERTIFICATION: Completion of Title IX Coordinator training (e.g., ATIXA or equivalent) or willingness to complete training.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to conduct interviews of complainants, respondents and other witnesses regarding intimate sexual matters.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with objectivity, discretion and integrity.

· Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and under supervision.
· Must possess strong initiative, organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask to manage a variety of projects and priorities, coordinating the actions of others, follow through on projects to timely completion, and demonstrate excellent judgment with attention to detail.
· Microsoft Office experience with Word, Outlook, Publisher, Excel, Power Point software experience.

PHYSICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Requires ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; the ability to stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10 – 20 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, type and perform data entry, visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information, ability to hear in order to answer telephones and to communicate verbally, and the ability to sit for extended periods of time.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed indoors with minimal safety hazards, and requires seated, standing, and movement work.
