Overview

The Department of Theology invites applications for an Assistant Professor in the area of biblical, moral, or dogmatic theology to begin in Fall 2022.  The successful candidate will demonstrate both speculative engagement with the truth of the Catholic faith and a knowledge of the philosophical resources theologians draw upon in relating the truth of faith to human reason. Ph.D. or S.T.D. required at time of appointment.  Adherence to the teachings of the Catholic Church and willingness to apply for the Mandatum are required.  Candidates should possess a record of pedagogical and scholarly excellence.  The position typically includes teaching core classes in theology as well as more advanced courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a statement relating the University’s Catholic mission as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae to their philosophy of teaching, and three letters of reference to graduatetheology@avemaria.edu. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.  Position is subject to final administrative approval. Incomplete applications missing any components, especially the Ex Corde Ecclesiae statement, will not be considered.
