Hours:  Part-time, 17.5 hours per week. Weekly schedule dependent on the successful candidate’s and Director’s Preferences. Flexible times and days depend on workload. Position will require some travel to high schools, justice agencies, and some conferences, when needed.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Administrative Assistant for Criminal Justice (CRJ) will coordinate and oversee all operational aspects of the program from an administrative perspective. This role will include oversight of the program’s intellectual property, student workers, databases, mailing and recruitment functions. It will also engage in outreach to justice agencies in the region.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1.     Coordinate all mailings, databases for recruitment and Center for Criminal Justice, Law and Ethics activities.

2.     Organize the office into a coherent operation with proper systems to track program and Center functions and activities.

3.     Identify and develop regional contacts with Catholic schools, justice agencies and local college markets with prime transfer populations.

4.     Track budgetary and cost items for the program, the Center and its publication of the Natural Law and Justice Journal.

Work Experience

 

3 – 5 years of experience as an Administrative Assistant or Coordinator with oversight of program functions and tasks in a growing and entrepreneurial environment.  Experience in settings that deal with diverse responsibilities and constituencies working towards a common goal.
Competencies

 

Technical/Functional Skills: Demonstrates a clear understanding of the technical or functional skills required for the job, including traditional coordination of student questions and concerns, assistance with consumer-practitioners enrolling in the Continuing Education programs of the Center for Criminal Justice, Law and Ethics.
Action Oriented:  Aid and assist the program director in student recruitment; coordinate mailings, both physical and virtual for the activities of the department and the center.
Customer Service Orientation:  Aid and assist students as consumers and customers of the University; work with majors, justice practitioners and other constituencies that are naturally aligned with the Criminal Justice program and the Center for Criminal Justice, Law and Ethics.
Drive for Results:  Compute and calculate both costs incurred and revenue received from program and center activities; reconcile budgets on a monthly basis; interact with prospective students and justice agency personnel.
Education & Experience

 

BS or BA degree in an academic field which assures the level of communication skills needed for the many roles this position entails.
Technical Skills

 

Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, ability to merger files for the development of databases and mailings
Competent in Mail Merge
Workplace Factors

 

Position will require some travel to high schools and justice agencies when needed.  In addition, the position, over time, will participate in conference shows for purposes of recruitment.
