Schedule:  Full-time; Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with extended hours throughout the summer and during the year as needed; occasional travel required.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager of Youth Programming works to enhance, grow, plan, and execute the programming for Steubenville Youth Conferences and Franciscan LEAD, and any additional youth programming initiatives. This includes research, strategic planning, and collaboration with colleagues and external constituents. It also includes direct management of thematic development, schedules, speakers, hosts, worship leaders, program directors and programming execution.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.     Manages youth conference programming which includes collaborating with the youth programming team and office staff to brainstorm and plan the theme, schedule, and content and writing a theme development document (containing talk outlines). It also consists of working with office staff and contractors to develop additional theme pieces such as logos, videos, t-shirts, etcetera.

 

2.     Manages Franciscan LEAD Program which includes management of programming team to enhance, adapt and edit the schedule and content as needed, overseeing the hiring and training all facilitators and directors, as well as overseeing the participant application process. This consists of supervising the coordinator of youth programming and SWOP workers who assist with some of these aspects.

 

3.     Manages Ministry Team members including hosts, speakers, and musicians (totaling about 60-65 people). This includes researching speakers, managing the hiring process and mentor program, assigning and communicating all Ministry Team members’ conference weekend and talk assignments and any necessary communication regarding programming. It also includes overseeing the process of receiving and sharing feedback when needed.

 

4.     Manages relationships with regional conference partners which includes working with them to execute the programming elements for both Franciscan LEAD and youth conferences at their sites, such as adapting various schedules.

 

5.     In consultation with the Director of Programming and other conference office directors, researches, creates and implements strategic growth plan, which includes programming enhancements aimed at meeting the needs of participants, increasing attendance and improving participant experience. This includes overseeing programming evaluations and implementing beneficial feedback as well as collaborating with the marketing team to develop and implement marketing efforts for both youth conferences and Franciscan LEAD.

 

6.     Manages all aspects of the team of Program Directors to execute the summer conferences. This includes assigning, training and preparing program directors. In addition to serving as Program Director for youth conferences, works with Director of Evangelization to develop plans and content for year-round engagement.

REQUIREMENTS

Must understand, support and embrace the mission of Franciscan University of Steubenville and possess the following:

 

Work Experience

·         3-5 years of experience in youth ministry, including development of Catholic ministry.

Education

·         Bachelor’s degree in Theology and/or Catechetics and/or equivalent experience in ministry, preferably youth ministry.

 

Technical Skills

·         Proficient in common Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

·         Experience with additional Microsoft Suite Applications (Outlook, SharePoint, OneNote, etc.)

·         Experience with web-based applications, project management software, and databases such as Salesforce. (Preferred, but not required.

 

Workplace Factors

·         Extended hours throughout the summer and during the year, as needed.

·         Various 2-day to 3-day travel throughout the year.
