POSITION SUMMARY
The Planned Gift Officer (PGO) identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards a portfolio of current and future benefactors who are capable of making a planned gift as defined by the University. The PGO works collaboratively with colleagues at Franciscan University and represents all of Franciscan University’s programs while working with alumni, parents, friends, staff, and faculty in helping them focus on matching each of their interests with the appropriate gift opportunities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Implements prospecting plan/strategy to build and expand a planned giving portfolio.
2. Identifies, cultivates, and solicits Franciscan University constituents who are capable of making a leadership level or planned gift to the University.
3. Develops, creates, and presents proposals for consideration according to the benefactor’s interest, financial situation, and the University’s major priorities.
4. Initiates and maintains (stewards) relationships centered on conversion with current and specific benefactors.
5. Collaborates with employees of the University in order to identify University needs, to create proposals, to formulate proposal strategies and identify potential benefactors.
6. Develops and monitors annual strategy to market and promotes planned giving opportunities with the help of the Director for Leadership and Planned Giving, specifically for annuities, estate gifts, etc..
7. Plans, prepares, and executes planned giving events (Workshops, Virtual Presentations) in support of Advancement Department goals.

REQUIREMENTS
Must believe, promote and have a strong commitment to the mission of Franciscan University of Steubenville and possess the following:
Work Experience
· 2-3 years of fundraising, including planned giving, sales, or related experience with a proven track record of success.

Education
· Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree desired.
Technical Skills
· Working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge software systems is preferred.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Workplace Factors
· Extensive travel required.
· Some evenings and weekends are required, driven by events and benefactor availability.
