Schedule:   Full-time, Live-in Position with Variable Hours; Nights and Weekends Regularly Required;

Requires On-Campus Residence with Rent of $400/month

POSITION SUMMARY

The Residence Director is a full-time, live-in position responsible for managing student housing ranging between 130-290 full-time undergraduate students. The Residence Director is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of an assigned residential living area, as well as assisting with other duties to support the overall Student Life Department. The Residence Director works with a team of 4 – 9 Residence Assistants and Coordinators, the Director of Residence Life, and the Dean of Students.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage a staff of 4 – 9 Resident Assistants including training, development, supervision, and evaluation.
Administer housing policies within the hall.
Carry out disciplinary interventions according to Residence Life Policies and the Code of Student Conduct.  Complete and submit accurate reports in a timely fashion.
Oversee community development within the hall that addresses the intellectual, spiritual, social, and recreational needs of the residents.
Connect students to support services for issues as they arise: Medical, Counseling, Pastoral Ministry.
Plan and execute delegated projects as part of the Residence Life staff.
Maintain a presence with Households within the Hall.
Maintain cleanliness and good order within the Hall.
Administrative duties, as required:  fire drills, monthly reports, fire logs, etcetera.
Advise a Spring Break trip and help with promoting the University at summer conferences and camps.

REQUIREMENTS

Must understand, support and embrace the mission of Franciscan University of Steubenville and possess the following:

 

Work Experience

One year of residence life staff experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability to handle crisis situations effectively.
Demonstrated ability to work with college age students.
Evidence of strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree required.
Technical Skills

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
Competent and appropriate use of social media (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook) within a professional setting.
Workplace Factors

This is a live-in position with variable hours that requires on campus residence (rent $400/month).
Ability to respond to late night emergencies required.
Nights and weekends are regularly required.
Two-year commitment preferred.
An adjusted time-off schedule is required.
