Saint Vincent de Paul High School is seeking a social studies teacher for the 2021-22 academic year to help fulfill its mission of guiding students to encounter Jesus Christ in His transforming truth and love. We are seeking a teacher who will expose students not only to significant and beautiful historical artifacts and sources, but more broadly to a religious dimension in history, a sense that all human events occur within the unfolding of divine revelation and universal salvation.

A desired candidate must see the need for moral and religious knowledge as a basis for contemplating the wonder of the historical narrative while at the same time emphasizing how a grasp of the historical drama can further impart this knowledge. The teacher must look to the Church’s social doctrine to illuminate and evaluate past and present political and economic developments. They will help students explore how different cultures and civilizations–both past and present–have come to embody various responses to the fundamental and transcendental human questions.

The teacher will develop and maintain collaborative, productive work relationships with colleagues, students, parents and any other individuals in a position to meet student needs and advance their growth, development, and achievement.

A bachelor’s degree is required. Given archdiocesan policies, Missouri teacher certification is helpful but not immediately required, such that its absence should not deter you from applying.

Please include a resume with your application.
