Assistant/Associate Professor – Graduate Counseling Program


The University of Mary in Bismarck, ND invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor for our Graduate Counseling Program. This is an 11-month full-time faculty rank position that includes online teaching and program responsibilities in the Graduate Counseling Program. Depending on the interests and needs of the candidate, this faculty position is being offered as either a fulltime faculty position with the office on the main campus or a fulltime remote faculty position.


All faculty are expected to demonstrate a willingness to support and advance the Christian, Catholic, and Benedictine mission and identity of the University of Mary (see https://www.umary.edu/about/mission-identity).


Qualifications and Requirements Include:


• Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited university and experience as either a Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Master level Addiction Counselor, or Professional School Counselor and knowledge of CACREP standards and accreditation process.

• The position involves teaching and advising responsibilities in the graduate counseling program, service to the university and community, and engaging in scholarly activities that promote professional growth and development.

• Specific skills critical to success include excellent verbal and written communication skills, a team oriented collaborative approach, ability to work with traditional and non-traditional students and students from diverse backgrounds, and knowledge of innovative, best practices in pedagogy.

• Working with school and program administrators in developing and improving the program’s academic programs within the mission of the university as well as implementing university policy and rules within the program.

• Help school and program administrators in meeting the program recruitment goals established by the Dean

• Participate in program meetings and appropriate university/departmental program committees

• Upholds and supports the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary

• Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities

• Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the School of Behavioral Sciences and throughout the university, in accord with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ
