Assistant Softball Coach/Coordinator of Athletic Compliance & Operations
The Assistant Softball Coach/Coordinator of Athletic Compliance & Operations assists with all athletic compliance, student athlete services, game day operations and game management, following all rules and regulations of the University of Mary, the NSIC, the ACHA and the NCAA. The appointee will provide direct support for all NCAA, ACHA and NSIC compliance of the Athletic Department as directed by the Associate Director of Athletics and/or the Director of Athletics. The appointee will support the Head Coach in all aspects of managing a competitive NCAA DII program. The following key performance indicators will evaluate the appointee: Retention rate of scholar athletes, timely reporting of all compliance reports, completion of tasks in reporting rules violations, and an Internal Departmental Review.

Candidates will be invited to demonstrate a willingness to support the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities Include:
• Assist the Head Softball Coach with all aspects of management, recruitment, budget management, travel, and university responsibilities
• Assist with scholar athlete advising in respect to providing guidance and resources for balance between academics and athletics participation. Participate in UMary committee work as needed.
• Assist with education, monitoring and enforcement of NCAA, ACHA, NSIC, and UMary rules and regulations. Maintain knowledge of all NCAA, ACHA, and NSIC rules and regulations.
• Assist with certification of initial and continuing athletic eligibility regarding practice, financial aid, and competition; working with FAR, admissions, registrar and financial aid staff.
• Assist with oversight of prospective student athlete official visits and monitor all official and unofficial prospective student athlete visits. Evaluate transcripts and assist in determining future athletic eligibility.
• Assist athletic department with staff addition and departure procedures.
• Attend UMary, NSIC and NCAA meetings as assigned
• Assist with providing game event administration
• Other related duties as assigned and requested
Qualifications include:
• Bachelor’s degree in sports management, operations management, public relations, business, communication, public administration, or another related field.
• Masters’ degree preferred
• Previous intercollegiate administration experience and/or coaching experience is required
• Previous NCAA Division II experience is preferred
• Must have a good driving record

• Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities
• Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the Office of Intercollegiate Athletics and throughout the university in accord with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ
Knowledge and Skills include:
• Organizational skills and attentiveness to detail
• Ability to self-motivate and work independently
• Ability to work collaboratively
• Ability to develop a sound understanding of all areas surrounding the development, promotions, and execution of athletic events as well as the management of the internal support infrastructure needed to ensure a highly successful outcome
• Excellent communication skills, especially in the area of print and online media
• Possess strong analytical skills and the ability to evaluate and adjust key performance indicators of the game day experience
• Ability to develop strong relationships within the university community and within the Bismarck/Mandan area
The office is located in the Fieldhouse on campus. Duties will also be related to events at off-campus facilities used by baseball, soccer, football, track & field, hockey, softball, swimming, tennis, and the Armada. Night and weekend work hours will be required.
