Faculty Position in Philosophy

 

The University of Mary in Bismarck, ND invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Department of Philosophy.

 

Areas of Specialization and Competence are open, although candidates should be able to teach Introduction to Philosophy, Ethics, and Philosophy of the Human Person for the university’s Core Curriculum. An aptitude for bringing Thomistic philosophy into fruitful dialogue with other philosophical traditions would be a distinct asset. A Ph.D. in Philosophy is required by time of employment.

 

Applicants must excel in teaching, be committed to supporting formation outside of the classroom and have an active research agenda.

 

All faculty are expected to demonstrate a willingness to support and advance the Christian, Catholic, and Benedictine mission and identity of the University of Mary (see www.umary.edu/about/mission/missionidentity.php).

 

Qualifications and Requirements Include:

  • Upholds and supports the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary
  • Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities
  • Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the School of Arts and Sciences and throughout the university, in accord with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ
