Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) Internship Director

The University of Mary in Bismarck, ND invites applications for the position of MSW Internship Director in the Department of Behavioral Sciences in the Liffrig Family School of Education and Behavioral Sciences. This is an onsite faculty position but based on the qualifications of the candidate a remote faculty position will be considered.

The MSW Internship Director position is a full-time faculty rank 11-month position that includes administrative, teaching and advising responsibilities in the new MSW Graduate Program. This position is directly responsible to the MSW Program Director and Chair of the Social Work Programs.

The Internship Director will oversee and be responsible for the implementation and coordination of the internship program for the MSW program. This will involve responsibility for the overall internship program including the implementation of policies and procedures, identifying appropriate internship sites, providing orientation and, responsible for recruiting and mentoring qualified field instructors, including provision of field instruction trainings for new field instructors, assigning students to sites, developing, and maintaining affiliation agreements. Oversee the maintenance of all field education records for students, field instructors and field placement sites on a technology platform, including ensuring that all students complete background checks and other university and agency requirements for field education. In addition, evaluating the outcomes of the internship experience.

The Internship Director will collaborate with the Program Director to initiate and contribute to all accreditation requirements from CSWE for field education. The successful candidate will be expected to provide teaching at the graduate level, contribute to professional and university service, and participate broadly in the social work curriculum, and engage with the community for field placement development.

Qualifications and Requirements Include:

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be a licensed social worker holding an MSW from a CSWE accredited institution.

• A minimum of three years of full-time post-MSW/Master’s practice experience for all applicants is required.
• Hold a social work license in the state of North Dakota or be licensable as a social worker in North Dakota.
• Excellent communication abilities in written and verbal forms

Preferred Qualifications:

• Teaching experience in an BSW/MSW program or familiarity with social work curriculum.
• Doctoral degree in social work or related field
• Familiarity and experience in social work offered in midwestern states.
• Education experience, including the use of multiple digital or technology-supported teaching/learning platforms and mechanisms.
• Demonstrated experience managing field experiences for graduate social work programs.
• Teaching in programs that are delivered to students across multiple states with necessity to consider regulations and requirements in bordering states.
