University of Mary

Residence Director – Male Residence Hall

The Residence Director (RD) provides effective leadership for a high-quality Residence Life Program for student residents within one or more residence halls or apartment facilities. The current opening is for a RD to lead the student residential community (or communities) located in Boniface West Hall.

Living among the students he serves, the RD lives a life of presence, encountering residents, building meaningful relationships with them, and helping them become engaged members of the residential community. Because of the intentional encounters the RD will have, the RD serves as a key member of the University’s student retention plan.

In each facility he supervises, the RD is responsible for establishing and maintaining a residential culture, based on the University’s Benedictine values, that helps students see themselves as formed for distinction, leading through service, and integrated by relationships. The RD creates opportunities to teach and form students outside the classroom and will develop, coordinate, and evaluate programming in each residential facility designed to meet the developmental and formative needs of the residents he serves.

The RD assists the Director of Residence Life in the recruitment and training of Resident Assistants (RAs) who live within the residence hall. RAs assist the RD with the Residence Life Program and serve residents as peer leaders. Each RD supervises, mentors, and evaluates a team of RAs and provides the leadership to ensure the effectiveness of the team.

The RD ensures the physical environment in the residential halls he supervises is maintained according to the University’s standards, ensures the timely resolution of maintenance issues, and provides excellent service with administrative matters.

Candidates will be invited to demonstrate a willingness to support the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary.
