ELL and Student Success Support Coach

Title V CHART Grant Project 2022-2027

UST is a diverse and vibrant urban environment with professional opportunities and we are currently seeking an ELL and Student Success Support Coach for the Title V CHART grant.

This position reports to the Project Manager and Lead Student Success Support Coach. The ELL and Student Success Coach will be bilingual and experienced in providing writing and academic support to students struggling with writing at the college level with issues stemming from ELL issues. This coach will provide writing support, manage a student caseload and deliver hands-on, intrusive, proactive student support influenced by the coaching theory of Bettinger and Baker and the cultural wealth and cultural awareness theories of Nora, Rendon, et. al. The coach will possess ELL training and experience and be trained to provide and demonstrate wrap-around support to UST students and foster and nurture collaborations with other student service providers on campus.

Responsibilities:

Scheduling and coaching all Freshmen and Sophomore students who self-refer for services and/or are referred by faculty and staff for coaching support.
Provide referrals to wrap-around support services for Hispanic and low-income students
Coach students and track and report usage of other wrap-around services as appropriate
Offer specialized writing support services for students that are struggling with ELL issues.
Will work with the Project Director, Program Managers, other Success Coaches, and Peer Mentors to ensure all Title V project goals and objectives are completed on time and within budget.
Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

MA/MS in Advising or a related discipline.
Three years of experience coaching and providing ELL support to low-income, first-generation and underrepresented students at the college level.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Bilingual skills

This is a federally funded, five-year, full-time, year-round, benefit-eligible professional position.
