The University of St. Thomas (UST), a private Catholic University committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, is located in Houston, Texas, near the vibrant central business district, Texas Medical Center, and museum district, is seeking applicants for a full-time position in the Department of Philosophy and the Center for Thomistic Studies. These faculty positions are open rank.
AOS: Open. Facility with the Latin texts of St. Thomas Aquinas strongly preferred.
Deadline: Review of applications will begin after November 30, 2022
Positions begins August 2023. 3/2 course load. Ph.D. required.
These positions will involve teaching at least one graduate course per year and dissertation supervision. Undergraduate teaching load: 3 or 4 courses per year, including university core courses. University, Department, and Center service are also required.
Areas of specialization and concentration are open, but among areas that might serve the Center’s needs are history of philosophy, political philosophy, philosophy of science, Arabic philosophy, phenomenology, and logic. The ability to teach courses in the University’s core curriculum is also preferred.
