Assistant Director, Simulation Center and Educational Support Services

The University of St. Thomas (UST), a private Catholic University committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, located in Houston, Texas, near the vibrant central business district, Texas Medical Center, and museum district, is seeking applicants for a full-time Assistant Director, Simulation Center and Educational Support Services.  This position is within the Peavy School of Nursing and reports directly to the Director, Simulation Center.

Key Responsibilities:

Admission and Onboarding System Functions

 

Manage the PreCheck system for documentation of student compliance with all clinical agency requirements including:
Required criminal background checks for newly admitted applicants
Immunization records
Other agency requirements
Manage ongoing communication with incoming regarding onboarding and orientation processes
Simulation Lab Support Functions

 

Facilitate simulation lab experiences through planning, scheduling, preparing for and assisting with simulation lab learning activities in conjunction with course coordinators and the Simulation Center Director.
Supervise student workers in maintaining the lab environment, supply storage, equipment set up and breakdown for learning activities.
Operate simulation technology to support clinical simulation activities
Clinical Program System Functions

 

Clinical Affiliations and Placement Services

 

Develop and manage the SON Clinical Placement process in collaboration with the Director.
Facilitate problem solving with all clinical placement facilities
Develop and manage SON affiliation agreement database
Ensure agreements are renewed prior to expiration date
Monitor affiliation agreements to ensure SON is compliant with facility requirements for both undergraduate and graduate clinical courses.
Manage PSON clinical rotations through the Centralized Clinical Placement System (CCPS) used regionally and clinical placement processes required by agencies that do not utilize CCPS.
Serve as official liaison to affiliated clinical agencies on behalf of the PSON
Other Duties

Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director, Simulation Center and Educational Support Services
May be asked on occasion to support virtual simulation or onsite clinical activities in the event of unexpected changes in course coverage
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

 

MSN degree and current, valid RN licensure in Texas required
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

 

Minimum of five years of clinical or clinical education experience with varied assignments and complexities with two years of engagement with clinical simulation
Excellent software skills with demonstrated advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Professional 2010 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access), PeopleSoft, and Survey Monkey
Demonstrated writing proficiency for development of program reports, catalogs, recruitment/promotional material and correspondence
A strong customer service orientation is vital to the success of the position
Ability to handle multiple tasks with effective organizational skills and attention to detail
Results oriented with a focus on meeting deadlines
Exceptional communication skills
Ability to work independently and part of a team
Ability to function in a manner that is congruent with the School of Nursing mission, vision and philosophy
