Assistant Graphic Designer
The University of St. Thomas (UST), a private Catholic University committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, located in Houston, Texas, near the vibrant central business district, Texas Medical Center, and museum district, is seeking applicants for a full-time Assistant Graphic Designer. This position is within the Marketing and University Relations Division and reports directly to the Creative Services Manager.
Summary:
As part of the Marketing team, the Assistant Graphic Designer is responsible for producing collateral for print and digital platforms within University brand. The ability to communicate and brainstorm with the marketing team and other University stakeholders to develop creative for marketing campaigns and initiatives is essential. The designer reports to the Creative Services Manager.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Conceptualize and design print and digital collateral
Refresh existing collateral to current visual trends in print and digital marketing
Create unique graphics and format images for print and digital media
Design display banners and other large format production
Manage collateral projects, including preparing production ready files, placing orders, acquiring quotes and approving proofs
Enforce brand consistency across all marketing materials
Coordinate photo shoots
Proofread as required
Perform related tasks as assigned by the Creative Services Manager
Education
Minimum requirement of an Associates Degree in marketing, graphic designer or related field required. An undergraduate degree in a related field is preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 2 years of experience in graphic design
Knowledge and skills:
Intermediate level of proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required
Thorough knowledge of photo-editing software for print and digital platforms
Demonstrated strong typography skills
Experience with basic programming a plus: HTML, CSS, JavaScript
Experience working with vendors for production and installation of marketing projects
Ability to organize and maintain project files and archives
Must be highly attentive to details
Demonstrate excellent time management and project management skills in order to meet deadlines.
