The University of St. Thomas (UST), a private Catholic University committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, located in Houston, Texas, near the vibrant central business district, Texas Medical Center, and museum district, is seeking applicants for a full-time Customer Service Associate. This position is within the Office of the Registrar

 

Position Summary:

 

The Customer Service Associate will serve as the first point of contact for the Office of the Registrar and greet visitors in a warm and friendly manner. This person should be enthusiastic with an outgoing personality and has the ability to work well with a diverse population. In addition to serving as the primary customer service contact for visitors, the front counter coordinator will also be responsible for general duties as it relates to the Registrar’s Office.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Greet students, staff, faculty, staff, and external contacts.

Respond to in-person inquiries and route accordingly.

Manage telephone inquiries pleasantly and professionally and route accordingly.

Process same day transcript requests; enrollment verifications, and general enrollment requests.

Coordinate student worker assignments to other staff members and supervise student workers assisting at the front counter.

Oversee workflow and process integration at front counter between Registrar’s Office and the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.

Sort and distribute mail.

Order supplies and/or merchandise.

Other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Requirements

A minimum of an Associate Degree in business or a related area of study is preferred or an equivalent amount of direct work experience.

Minimum of four years of work experience in a college setting; preferably in a registrar’s office or other service oriented department.

A customer service orientation required.

Direct customer service experience preferred.

Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Knowledge of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships.

Ability to work in a team environment.

Ability to handle multiple tasks under minimal supervision.

Completed formal customer service training preferred.

Must be reliable and have a history of satisfactory attendance.
