Study Abroad Coordinator

The University of St. Thomas (www.stthom.edu), a private Catholic university, located in Houston, Texas, the nation’s fourth largest city, committed to the liberal arts and to the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, is seeking a full-time Study Abroad Coordinator as a member of the Office of International Services and Study Abroad.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead promotion efforts of individual exchange and faculty-led study abroad programs via marketing material, events, website content, social media, etc.
Maintain a working relationship with counterparts in sister schools on mutual exchange students and related matters.
Coordinate with faculty on faculty-led program promotion, implementation, and travel logistics.
Plan and execute for a study abroad budget.
Maintain faculty-led and individual study abroad program records.
Advise UST students on study abroad options, funding, and procedures.
Coordinate with other university departments and counterparts in sister schools on study abroad related procedures such as processing applications, posting academic credits, granting scholarship awards, and making payments.
Respond to travel, health, and safety- related issues for students abroad and visiting exchange students. Urgent matters may require immediate response outside of regular business hours.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree is required. MA degree is preferred.
A minimum of 1 year of advising, service staff support, or experience in an academic setting with international or study abroad experience is required.
Experience with marketing, promotions, sales and/or event planning preferred.
Process-oriented person with strong ability to multi-task and manage multiple lines of communication and reporting.
Ability to travel internationally is required.
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Publisher.
Ability to speak to large audiences; Spanish proficiency is preferred
